  • Thomas J. Sakshaug, DDS

Thomas J. Sakshaug, DDS, who usually goes by Dr. Tom or Doc Tom, has been a Pittsfield dentist in the same South Street location since 1987.

A big advocate of continuing education, he usually takes 2-3 times the hours required for licensure, focusing on clinical topics such as oral medicine, endodontics (root canals), surgery, and restorative procedures.

Dr. Tom has always been active in the Berkshire and Massachusetts Dental Societies of the American Dental Association, having held the Berkshire positions of Continuing Education Chair, Treasurer, and Chair of the district. He has been a Delegate to the MDS House of Delegates, our governing body, for many years and received the 2016 William McKenna Volunteer Hero award.

In his down time, Dr. Tom is an avid hiker, having climbed every trail on the Greylock Reservation, hiked in the “Big Five” National Parks in southern Utah, and crossed the Grand Canyon rim-to-rim. He enjoys gardening, landscaping, and fixing up his home, yard, and machinery. He is very active in Pittsfield city government, currently serving as Vice Chair of the Conservation Commission and Chair of the Airport Commission.

Dr Tom is a clinician and board member at Volunteers in Medicine Berkshires (VIM), caring for low-income working people without dental insurance. Please consider making a donation to VIM or even volunteering!
